Traditional ways of securing our networks aren’t working against a new wave of encrypted traffic attacks. Cyberattacks are on the rise at an alarming rate – over 230 million ransomware attacks occurred within the first half of 2022 alone with that number not showing any signs of slowing down. Encrypted traffic takes longer for our systems to find threats and cost more to integrate defenses against. Security systems designed for encrypted data are much more complex and add all sorts of latency and a huge amount of new burden on a variety of groups. With over 90% of all web traffic being encrypted, defending against encrypted attacks is only getting harder.
A network detection and response platform, or NDR, is a faster and cheaper way to secure encrypted traffic. It doesn’t need to decrypt incoming traffic to detect attackers, making it leagues ahead of other security approaches. NDR solutions work by building a fingerprint of assets and behavior patterns and comparing incoming traffic to that fingerprint to detect potential threats and alert security staff.
