With an alarming new Omicron COVID variant, it’s anyone’s guess as to when things may get back to normal. Perhaps we are living in a new normal. Whatever the case, there is no denying that our most vulnerable senior citizens are at risk – especially when they are confined in nursing homes. Adding to the stress of this scenario are record numbers of the labor shortages within nursing homes, particularly unsettling is a nursing shortage crisis.
Let’s set our sights on the particular geographic region of the state of at Ohio. Why Ohio? It currently has the 3rd highest number of nursing homes, third only to much the larger states of Texas and California. Also during the pandemic, Ohio has reported the largest nursing shortage of any state. There’s hope: the Cincinnati / Dayton Ohio metropolitan area has a large number of job opportunities if your skill sets are a match.
