The conscious consumer is one that cares about how their online shopping habits will impact the environmental situation of the future.
Online platform eBay has been setting the pace for how eCommerce can be sustainable while profitable. Consider this – just last year, sales of pre-owned electronics and apparel on eBay conserved a considerable amount of carbon emissions – to the tune of 720,000 metric tons. If that wasn’t enough, by the year 2025, eBay is planning to even greater heights. The eCommerce seller plans to create $3 billion in positive economic impacts, while preventing an additional 3 million metric tons of carbon emissions. The plan is to do this through the sales of pre-owned electronics and apparel, sometimes referred to as recommerce.
