Your scene has a lot to do with how creative you can be. If the scene is devoid of community, activism or creative expression, it’s a lot harder to express and sustain your creative energy. There is something about having a critical mass of creative people and venues accessible within your work/home scene.
My neighborhood in San Francisco (NOPA) has that unique blend of community feel, creative venues for expression and residents that care. This unique scene has a lot to do with the people that gravitate to it and the business that support them. Without engaged businesses, neighbors and government working in concert, our unique scene would disappear.
