Government can learn a tremendous amount from Open Source projects. This post over at Creative Class goes a good job laying out the argument for Open Data but needs to take it one step farther. Data access is important but more important is building an Open Source government. Most of the infrastructure exists today. All that really needs to be done is adopting the Open Source model of application development to government needs. That would be a great way to have a more transparent government as well as allow citizens to serve.
