Another friend lost his job today. That makes six so far. Not that I am counting. I guess I should be thankful that I still have a job, albeit at minimum wage so I don’t loose my health benefits. At least my wife works. That’s better than most. This last friend has two kids and a wife. He is resourceful, so I’m not too worried. I just wish I could help them all.
Echos of 2001
I came across this old blog post (were they even blogs then), published in eWeek, about the 2001 crash. Kind of a funny thing really. The author, John Taschek, apparently works for Ziff Davis. Are they even around anymore (Turns out they are)? Anyway, back to my Malaise. According to John, we should just ban cellphones, dump our PDA’s, don’t worry about chips and this whole XML thing, it’s just a fad. Wait for 3G, he says, that will turn things around! Fat chance. 3G is here and things are awful. I digress. It was worth the free sign up on www.accessmylibrary.com Who knew that I might need a massage!
Back To Our Hero
So, it’s a bit depressing to see your friends lose their jobs. I know, it’s just a job and the stupid company they worked for is crazy to let them go but you still got to eat. I’m sure they will be fine. This whole economic downturn thing is getting old. We are like 20 months into the recession, lets get on with it! Start spending like a drunken Republican at a convention. You know, the kind that don’t spend money on gay hookers, booze and awful tattoos of Sarah Palin, who winks when they giggle their man boobs. Just spend man. Don’t worry about deficits or that whole “our children’s” future crap. We never worried about that before. We can’t worry about it now! Democrats, you don’t get off easy on this one. Stop trying to be so popular. This is not High School Musical. You have 60 in the senate and a majority in the house. Ram some stuff through the sucker. Spend some political capital on doing something.
OK, I Admit It, It’s The Jack Talking
Yeah, my passions are running a little wild today. Too much has happened this week. Too many raw emotions have come together. Too much Jack and Ginger on a Friday night. It just makes me mental that our “best and brightest” have screwed things up so bad. Best and brightest, baloney. Enough already. Just do something about it. Get going. I have friends that need jobs!
