Interesting study. It’s kind of odd that Silicon Valley scored 100. The next closest is Seattle-Bellevue-Everett at 46.4. It’s almost like they just used Silicon Valley as the benchmark and compared everyone to that. The shocking statistic is that just a few miles north of Silicon Valley, San Francisco-San Mateo-Redwood City, scored so low (almost 10 x lower). Those areas are where biotech was born (South San Francisco). The East Bay (Oakland-Fremont-Hayward) is in the top twenty (interactive data here) and also scored almost 10x lower.
